French comic artist and illustrator Jean "Moebius" Giraud passed away yesterday from cancer at the age of 73. He was close friend with Miyazaki, and supposedly he named his daughter Nausicaa. Just thought I'd let everyone here at the Tavern know.
He made a drawing of Nausicaa as well. You can view it at this link:

It is a sad news
It seemed to me one of the very few persons that miyazaki admired, mr.mobious was surely one of them. It is surely a great loss to anime ,manga and comic community.

its a uniquely Miyazaki film, one only he could make and its uniqueness places it beyond being easily critiqued.[About Porco Rosso] taken from a quote of Saddletank and Orphic Okapi

Space Jam? Really?
Don't know many of his movies outside of Tron which was a cult movie, but sorry to hear of the death of a respected artist.

Cant say iv ever looked at his art, but i did watch a documentary of him with Miyazaki at their exhibition in Paris a few years ago
Always sad when anyone dies...
Edit: After trying to find it, im not sure if it was him at the exhibition with Miyazaki, but it probably was
