Well I personally understand that there can be no sequel of Mononoke, but as I see it, what we desire is to see some more magic of the forest, its gods, and those litlle white helling creatures.
The story can be totally different.

Concerning sequels Miyazaki has never told the same story twice, but the motives in some films are simmilar.
For example one of the heros is living a peacful life, till some event distubes it. And this event starts the story and makes a young couple meet.

And even though some motives like this mentioned above repeat again and again I still love watching them

Cheers

I think there is no way that Ghibli can create a sequel fot Mononoke Hime. I think it's perfect itself. Its also not Myazaki's style. He always puts one main greatly developed idea in one film, and that's the beauty of his work. This is what makes Ghibli special to me. So I don't want any continuations, and I am practically sure there will be no.

So, how someone allready said - leave sequels for Disney, and wait for a new great film from Ghibli.

How could you even make a sequel and what would it be about anyways. The spirits are no more, the cure has been lifted, ahitaka was exiled from his home. What is there left ot even make a movie about. Well i asume you can make oe about rebuilding the city but tat woudl be boring. There really is nothing left to continue th movie unless it was totaly random and had nothng to do with the original. There is way to much closure at the end of thigs movie to continue it. A sequel owuld just ruin the movie andi think it is just fine the way it is.

Hmm.. a spin-off maybe? Little white forest creatures vs. Pikmin? That'd be a laugh!

I doubt that Mononoke would get a sequal but yet again, it's always nice to think about one right?

I don't really like sequels, because I hate comparing the first movie with a continuation of the movie. It just makes me confused and disappointed.
