What do people have against Pom Poko? I thought it was a great movie, and deserved to go a lot higher.

You're falling for the trap of your own game...eliminating a title doesn't mean you don't like it or have anything against it...just that you don't like it as much as the titles remaining on the list, which I agree with for the remaining titles. (Well, I consider it equal to Yamadas but a step below the rest).

I'm not falling for any trap, I know very well how my game works. If you do not like it as much as the others, then you obviously have something against it that stops it from being on par with the rest. Even if it something tiny, it is still something. So unless you are very pedantic, that question can be answered.

"Why don't you like it as much as the others?"

That question would generate the same responses as my original question.

Maybe it's just me, but I consider "What do you have against apples" to be a different question from, "Why don't you like apples as much as pears?". The first question implies a contrary or opposed viewpoint/opinion.

But enough of the semantics.

I personally didn't like Pom Poko. It might actually be my least favorite Ghibli. The cast of characters was too large for any of them to be developed sufficiently, so I never really felt attached to any of them. Moreover, the plot was too loose, too sprawling, too aimless. The movie felt about twice as long as it actually was. There were some nice scenes (the ending in particular) but most of them were drowned in tedium.

Yamadas is really diffrent from the other, like not just the animation style like how the stories work.. ect but i thought it was pritty good... (better than i expected)

Nausicaä is the only film left on the list that I didn't really like so much. I still think it's pretty good, but not as good as the rest. Don't know about Ponyo, though, since I haven't seen it yet. I agree it probably shouldn't be on the list. But, then again, there are obviously some people here who have seen it, so I guess it doesn't really matter that much. Anyway, here's my vote of the day:
