Lol, no, by Kondou Yoshifumi, one of the top artists in Studio Ghibli. Unfortunately, he died a few yrs back. I think it was during the beginning stages of making SA.

Conservative is when u find certain things too taboo, even tho it may not be. But i'll agree with u bout the last part being nice (im a guy, and Shizuku's cute, so sue me)
Btw, technically, its Yoshifumi Kondou, and Miyazaki Hayao.
In overall terms, Mimi may or may not be one of the best movies from ghibli. But it certainly has the best soundtrack and the 2nd most down-to-earth story, losing only to Omohide Poro Poro.
Oh, and its currently my fav too. Hell, i even got the manga and its sequel to boot. Im in the middle of scanlating the 1st, will the the 2nd after im done.
Now the only movie i wanna see is Umi ga Kikoeru, apart from the 2 ghiblies eppies (which r not movies technically).

My favorite part? I loved all of Shizuku's fantasy images of the story she was writing. They were so beautifully-drawn and dream-like....I wish we could've seen more images of the story...yeah, the ending with the bicycle scene was very cute, that's another one of my favorite scenes. ^_~

i dont think you can say that whisper of spirited is better than the other...
spirited is more of a childish drama when whisper.. is more of and teenage (adult) drama... or something like that... if i had to choice on of them i would have to go with whisper...that movie really touched me..

Actually, since whisper was based on a manga by Ribon Mascot, the target age should be 8-12 or somewhere around that.
SA, in Miyazaki's own words (or roughly), is "for those who were 10, for those who will be 10, and for those who were 10".
