As nobody expressed any opinions about doing things differently, I'll go ahead and start this poll! Like every year, the "host" film automatically qualifies for the main tournament as a top seed, and becomes the theme for that year. I'm giving you just two options this time, connected to the 40th anniversary of the founding of Studio Ghibli!
Laputa: Castle in the Sky (current ranking: 9, eliminated in the group stage last time)
I think this would be a good representative of the studio's 40th anniversary because it's the very first one they released! Since it didn't do so well last time, this would affect the makeup of the groups a bit more.
My Neighbour Totoro (current ranking: 4, eliminated in the semi finals last time)
Obviously, Totoro is already used as a symbol of Studio Ghibli, so it fits the bill pretty well! But as it's already qualified and its ranking is so high, it might not shake things up all that much.
As usual, just pick what you think seems like the best fit, whether or not it's the one you like best. I'll take the result one week from now, on the 30th, but I'll leave the poll open beyond that just in case there's a tie at that point.
