Most soothing colour is green, but I don't think it'll look good here. Smthng of soft focus, maybe.
Personally, as long as it isn't anything gaudy or horrible, I'm pretty fine with it.

a good use of colours for a forum is usually white and different colours of blue but then again pastel shade colours work really well as well..
