A few years back I used to play on of the best dogfighting games ever.
It was really really good.
And pretty well known. Called Crimson Skies.
You can probabl pick it up really cheap for PC nowadays.
If you had an Xbox360, you could buy Ace Combat 6.
Its also dogfighting but with modern time jets.
It comes with an extra controller that is like a flight stick.
And the best multiplayer game is Smash Bros Melee

Meh. I don't know why people like Goldeneye so much. It's pretty frustrating to play, I've found, although my friend keeps trying to convince me. I played it a few times and gave up because you get a bazillion times more bullets than you can ever use, and you don't start with a weapon so you just get killed by those unsympathetic "friends", and things keep blowing up on the other side of walls but the explosions hurt you anyways. And somehow just playing feels a little ridiculous.

Lining up orderly in cheerful outfits and taking turns to shoot is "reason"?
(And no, I don't know what I'm talking about.)
Ayami - I have Syberia, but I've never played it. What's it like (aside from being pretty)?

Hi JRR, yes I have Crimson Skies, and yes it was fun, but I wouldn't say it was one of the best dogfighting games. It was an arcade game, it had no physics engine at all to speak of, but it was nonetheless fun, if a little cheesy.
Some of the airship sequences remind me now a lot of Castle in the Sky or Porco Rosso scenes. Remembering it brings back good memories.

Good point. No, the wars were stupid, like they all are, but this was the age of the great thinkers, philosophers and the beginnings of socialism and republicanism in Europe - and of course in the States. I'd have thought being a bit of a philosopher and politician you'd have known that ![](images/smilies/wink.gif)

Well, it's not really that well known. One of the reasons Clover had to fold was because not enough people bought Okami. And it's such a good game too!
Yes and the worst thing about the studio closing was that there was even talk of a sequel. I've been searching hopefully through my local game stores but I'm afraid my searching is probably fruitless. Oh... hey arren, now you know where my username comes from don't you?

It's a sort of action/adventure game. It's set in Nippon (aka Japan), and this evil dargon/demon/spirit thing has been mysteriously resurrected, so this wood sprite called Sakuya resurrects the wolf god Okami Amaterasu to help resue Nippon from the curse that has been put upon it. One problem: when Okami was killed in a battle with this same demon 100 years ago, he/she (it isn't specified) lost of his/her brush techniques: magical powers that are utilized with the celestial brush... I could write an essay. You get the picture right?
It's really great I think you might enjoy it. There's a lot of mythology in the game which I like, the characters are great (Issun is so funny, trust me, you'd love Issun). You should try it.

I knew where it came from when you first joined. xP Hmm, a sequel could be nice, but I'm happy enough. At least it's coming out on Wii, which should be good. And if they're doing that, then the existing studios of Capcom might still consider future games.
@Saddles: it's an action RPG. Quite similar to Zelda in basic gameplay, if that helps you understand at all. It's all based around Japanese folklore, and you play as Okami Amaterasu, the sun god in the form of a white wolf. To go with the story, the graphics are in the style of traditional Japanese paintings. Your powers involve getting out a magic paintbrush and using it to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Does that explain it enough?
EDIT: Kazegami posted first. Oh well, that just means you get to hear more about it.

I'd like to get it, but it now sounds impossible to get.

It's not that difficult to get. I've seen it shops. And you can easily get it online.

Okay thanks I will, it was just the way you were talking - as though the Developer going bust made it hard to buy.
EDIT : Oh, was it ever released for PC?

THe special thing about Okami is the visual style.
It looks like a Traditionl japanese paintbrush painting.
Clover studiosd will not make an Okami sequel.
However hope does exist that it becomes a big hit on the Wii (though it is EXACTYL the sam game, with aded wii funcitonality) and Capcom considers putting someone else on the job of making a sequel.
As far as I know its PS2 exclusive.
Not having a PS2, I might buy it on wii.
Depending on how skint I am at that moment.

yeah, I only got it a couple of months ago and it was easy to find. The store I went to had several copies.
Crap...If I'd known it was coming out for the Wii I wouldn't have bought it for PS2.

Oh, shame, never mind. I only game on PC, I cannot afford to buy expensive consoles to play on when I have an expensive games machine sitting on my desk already.

The PS2 is now 130 dollars.
That is not expensive.
It will probably by 70 or 80 pounds.
Plus a 30 pound game...
Depends how bad you want it (and/or other games on the same console)

Well I don't want it at all, as I said I have a £1000 games machine already. Why buy another? I've never understood the console craze at all, all it does is play games. My games machine can do that plus twenty or thirty other things.
Sorry, don't get me started on consoles. I hate them. Every blooming company brings out their own like VHS vs BETA video and it's just divisive in the market and some poor schmucks go out and buy three or even more different console systems! Why?
Console games are almost always more expensive than their PC counterparts too. I've never understood that beyond marketeering rip-off which I refuse to be a slave to.
Sorry. I'll shut up. Carry on talking about games!

I buy consoles for the games.
You cant play any Nintendo games on PC, and around 75% of 360 or PS3 games neither.
Youre kinda limited if you only have a PC.
Thugh it is good to have a PC, for MMORPGS. Though they are a time-suck, they are one hell of a lot of fun.

Well, technically speaking, you can play nintendo on your computer. Just not legally by any stretch of the means. Long live pirates. 8]
