wikikid this one is specially for you
Fact no.2.:The drawing of Howl's Moving Castle[the castle] was originally not meant for the film,it was intended to fill an empty space at the Studio Ghibli Museum - totally unrelated to the film. So when Suzuki was asked by miyazaki "What design should I use for the castle?". This was proposed. To make it moving miyazaki just added 4 chicken legs.

its a uniquely Miyazaki film, one only he could make and its uniqueness places it beyond being easily critiqued.[About Porco Rosso] taken from a quote of Saddletank and Orphic Okapi

That is why the thread is called 1001 New facts about studio ghibli
[i can not give total list because it is more than 500]
I actually do not remember from which source it was.I have been doing some research on miyazaki, takahata and ghibli for a newspaper post and read a lot of their interviews, biography and criticism of them. Older interviews are on nausicaa.net and others are from various sources.(verified 90-100%)these facts are from them.

To be fair, it is no surprise with the stress and pressure he is under from day to day. Besides by now it is most likely a habit by now!

WOW! I love Princess Mononoke and I never knew that the Kodama are based on owls! I guess that's the point of this thread, but that's still quite amazing. But I suppose it makes sense when you think that they both can swivell their heads around. Those are some great facts saviour, keep 'em coming!

Well, big brother or big sister is a form of honorific that japanese children use for older friends too.

Don't know if there is a link but....
FACT: Porco Rosso's real name Marco Pagot is a name that belonged to one of the production team of an earlier piece of Miyazaki work. Sherlock Hound!!

Fact no. 8
Miyazaki spent quite a few hours in the city, looking at how women's/girls' skirts and dresses moved, in order to create Kiki's dress in Kiki's Delivery Service.
(My reference was the special features in one of the Ghibli movies, although I do not remember which one.)

Fact 11:
Actually i always thought why the name is of the movie "Princess Mononoke" is like that i mean it is about ashitaka and his decisions. It seems that was the case. I found it From Wikipedia(From the book starting point)
quote: Two titles were originally considered for the film. One, ultimately chosen, has been translated into English as Princess Mononoke. The other title can be translated into English as either The Story of Ashitaka or The Legend of Ashitaka. In a Tokyo Broadcasting System program, televised on November 26, 2013, Toshio Suzuki mentioned that Hayao Miyazaki had preferred The Legend of Ashitaka as the title while Suzuki himself favoured Princess Mononoke. Suzuki also mentioned that Miyazaki had created a new kanji to write his preferred title.
