So I was looking at some global emissions data earlier and then wondered why the government, companies and people don't put in more effort in reducing their energy usage to help address global warming.
This is a lot out of the blue but it just popped up in my mind.

Well... which country are you in? That would put your comment in context.
Here in the UK we are fully focussed on reducing global warming as much as we can. Europe is similarly pretty hot on this topic.
I personally am very careful with power, the fuel in my car and the heat in my home because it directly affects my wallet. I recycle everything I can.
I think the big two who don't seem to get it (probably because it hurts the profits of the big greedy CEOs and their mega corporations who as we all know are the power behind governments...) are the USA and China.

Mm. These days governments seem to care less about what is right and a lot more about what is profitable. You can't really blame businesses for doing everything in their power to maximise profits, that's what businesses are for, but it's in the government's hands not to allow business to do things like cut down rainforests and avoid taxation in their quest for profit.

wow, saddle is saying corps. are behind govts.; i thought he was against conspiracy theories.
jokes aside
global warming is a serious problem. and i dont think any regular person or persons can actually do anything. it is a matter of realization as a whole, as a citizen of the world. it is almost definite that in the next 30-40 years there affects will be minimal to actually understanding the gravity of the situation. So right now we need to take a choice, we need to make up our mind if we want to leave a sustainable future to the next generation or not. The trends are not inspiring, people are getting more and more selfish, narcissistic and introvert(in general). What will happen i dont know but if it continues we(young people) are going to have hard time and our future generation will just blame us for everything as their lives will be unsustainable.

I am against conspiracy theories. I am fully aware however that big business influences governments, in the UK and USA for certain and most likely in many other countries as well.
Therefore this isn't a conspiracy theory

yeah i know
however i just consider that influence as conspiracy, meaning they conspire so that the decision goes to their favor.

Hello! I'm from the U.S.
Did you know that after China, the U.S. is the second largest producer of CO2 Emissions? True, the land size and population is great as well but still, there are so many studies out there that can help us minimize our carbon footprint. In fact, there are companies like Ecova who can help other companies and businesses monitor their energy consumption and take the proper steps to minimize it as backed by years of research and experience. I didn't even know that such companies existed!
