Slightly annoyed to have only heard of this the day after it happened.

Apparently there was a No Face wandering around.
Luckily it is twice a year. Has anyone been?

Two of my friends went, I was so jealous. My favourite cosplayer was there. I'd love to go one day but it's just too much money.

I went earlier in the year around Easter time, or maybe it was the year before I can't remember. It was great fun, got the VIP early tickets as lining up on the day is sooooo long.
It's great fun, I am hoping to go next year along with Eurogamer (EGX)

Hadn't considered the cost! What price range are www looking at and is it worth paying extra for VIP tickets?
All of which made me consider, if you had to dress up as a Ghibli character for the day, which one would it be.
I'd love to be the Baron, but Muta might be more suitable!

VIP is must, the line is like 5 hours long for normal unless you get there super early. It's not that much more honestly, and humm I would probably dress up as maybe Howl ?

Ooh big cons are so exciting
Two ways you can approach a con. 1) research! know what you want, where things are, and plan so you can get it done while battling the crowds.
or 2) just go and soak it in, follow flow of the crowd .... this is what I usually do and it's quite fun. Other than making sure I know the times some of the super cool panels or guests that are showing up.
Also talk to people in lines. Get to meet some pretty neat individuals. And also some fairly obnoxious ones but that's part of the fun
Oh and definitely dress up! Ghibli's generally a winner. You'll get cute points. And depending on the amount of effort you put into costume, be prepared to have randoms take pictures of you without asking haha.
(Kaz you'd make the perfect Howl. Have you ever dressed up as him???)

Knowing what specific things you really want to see and do is good. But apart from that, I'd recommend just looking around and you might come across something cool that way.
Bring plenty of money! It may be expensive just to get in, but when you start seeing stuff you want you'll forget how much you've already spent. Don't buy stuff too rashly though, because you're bound to see a lot that interests you.

Thanks for the replies. Lots of lovely compliments for my young daughter's Kiki costume from older teens in amazing outfits, which made her very happy.
Some personal thoughts on what worked. Get there early with a priority ticket. Some of the best interactions and photos came before the stalls opened and things were still quiet. There was more a feeling of grim determination once the masses turned up, or maybe we were just tired by then. A couple of people even took unexpected photos which made me uneasy.
Enjoyed mooching around, but would definitely plan shows and events to attend in future. Would probably also use the DLR and cable car as part of the day. All in all, a fantastic day.
