Got something very, very nice. I'm going to have a personal interview with Studio Ghibli director Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Pom Poko, etc.)!
It's going held at the Anima 2006 in Brussels early March and I'll also be present at one of his lectures about anime over there. More info about this soon on my website, but I was wondering if you guys at the Nausicaa list could come up with some nice questions. Perhaps you've always wanted to ask Takahata-san something or just want to help me with some good questions (which would be very much appreciated!), then please reply!
Some other good news is that today I received two big boxes and one medium box with a lot of goodies from the Ghibli Museum. So why is this good news for you as well? Well, because I've received some books, soundtracks, et cetera of the new Ghibli shorts "House-hunting", "Mon-mon the water spider" and "The Day I Harvested a Star" that started screening last January. I'll be posting a nice special with a lot of pics soon, but in the mean time I can give you a tiny sneek peek of what's to come. Check www.ghibliworld.com/news.html
Best regards,
Peter

Wow you are granted an interview with Takahata . That's great! How did you manage to do that? Anyway congrats!
Umm... here are a few questions ...
1) Do you have any comment on the recent trends of animation development in Japan?
2) Do you have any plan of directing another feature movie?
3) Which of your work do you like most?
4) What do you think are the essential qualities of a good animator?
5) How do you feel about "Howl's Moving Castle?"
I will try to post more if I come up with any.

Wow, its not everyday you get to meet a living legend in animation. Thanks for giving us the chance to put forward our questions .
Jiji seems to have covered any possible questions that I could come up with, but I would certainly like to second question 2. Ever since Yamadas, he has taken a backseat at Ghibli (semi-retirement), but I'd sure like to know what his plans are for the future...if not directing, then perhaps being key animator?
In the interview with Toshio Suzuki that you posted on your website, it was implied that Takahata was too old to direct a new movie...indeed its a very stressful job, but perhaps he feels differently.

Thanks for your questions! I'm still thinking about what the subjects for the interview will be, but I must say these are questions I can certainly use. About how I got the oppurtunity.... I just got in thouch which the press department of the Anima 2006.

True, I guess there's a low chance of Takahata directing again, but I would really like a new Takahata movie.
If you happen to come up with any new questions, please let me know!

Haha, excellent! I also just uploaded a part:
Hi guys!
Check http://www.ghibliworld.com/news.html for a news update with Ghibli Museum Shorts Footage: Catsuka, a French anime website, presents us some footage of the new Ghibli Museum shorts that NHK's "Ohayo Nippon" aired earlier today in an interview with Miyazaki about around 7:45 AM. Check it out at their news section or (to save them some bandwith) you can also check my website.
Anyway, enjoy!
Cheers,
Peter

Got some nice news again...
Earlier this week I posted a link with some footage of the new Ghibli Museum shorts that NHK's "Ohayo Nippon" aired earlier that day. However, that was only a summary, so thanks to Takahiro today I present you the complete 8 minutes long version with some extra footage of the shorts and the interview with Miyazaki which also shows something of one of his future projects. It can be found here:

Oh I am really surprised that they have shown so many parts of the 3 shorts in the TV program. It is nice to see another interview with Miyazaki too. Thank you very much for bringing us such a high quality version of the video.

Yes, they do show a lot of the shorts. I was expecting them to show only a couple of seconds, but this is more than expected.... but there's more to come... I've got a lot more images etc. of the new shorts, so I'll post a special of the new shorts soon.

You're welcome! As for now I've got enough bandwidth, but lets wait and see how long that'll last.

Got a new update about the Ghibli shorts...
11th of February, GHIBLI MUSEUM SHORT 2006 “THE DAY I HARVESTED A STAR†SPECIAL: Time for the first of six dedicated specials to the Ghibli Museum Shorts. This one is about "The Day I Harvested a Star", a.k.a. “Hoshi wo Katta Hi†with info and a lot of pics. Enjoy!
Check: http://www.ghibliworld.com/news.html
P.S.:I deliberately kept the pictures small, because these are original work of Studio Ghibli. Please do not put these online anywhere else or distribute it in any other ways! The artwork is posted here only for the purpose of encouraging interest in, and discussion about the works of Studio Ghibli! If you like "The Day I Harvested a Star" please go and see it in the Saturn Theatre of the “Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Japan! It’s worth it!

Thanks for the screenies of the short movie. It is really nice to be able to see the gorgeous pictures, as I doubt I will have any chance of visiting the museum again in the near future. I wonder if the pictures are from the movie booklets sold at the entrance of Saturn theatre or the Mama Aiuto shop?

I just got back from work and hasted myself to finish my own item about Gedo Senki with a lot of more info and footage. Check it out over here: http://www.ghibliworld.com/news.html
It has the complete program with more footage and the trailer as well in high resolution. Also more info about the voice cast, father-son problems between Hayao and Goro, et cetera.
Hope you like it!
