It's gross. lol I know some people are like that. I still get weird looks from people because of my relationship or when out with friends. They typically won't say anything in those cases, but it's still uncomfortable nonetheless.
Hey, does anyone have tips for being friendly and inviting to people? I'm not at all an extrovert and big groups often make me shy away, but right now I have over a dozen girls on my floor to befriend. I'm used to one-on-one conversations with students so just wondering how to be nice and make them feel welcomed. XD I don't think they mind my sometimes quietness. I just have to remember I'm more a friend than anything.

Yeah, it's gotten easier to talk to them since they're becoming more comfortable. Actually, they're speaking in English about 80% of the time already, which is great. They're a pretty friendly group. The boys are a bit less outgoing compared to the girls. But they'll all be pretty close soon so there won't be much of a gender divide after a couple weeks. There are always fewer boys than girls in the program. Lately there have been less guys coming on the exchange.
Hopefully the coordinators are able to expand the program to include students from Korea. They're hoping to right now. They've actually been doing a great job recruiting students from overseas in the past decade because I guess it was only a few years ago before I came here that there was only a very small international community.
WL: Hmm, is it weird if I don't care about making a ton of money? I was pretty happy talking about future plans with an old friend of mine. I was really happy for her but I felt kind of judged because I think she assumed I want a simple life and I felt like I wasn't aiming high enough compared to her. I don't consider any of the jobs I want to do as low paying.. Most are median salaries that can be almost doubled over a few years. So..
Because I want to work with international students, I'm hoping I won't be held back because I could never afford to take an exchange. Even if I do a second degree I don't think I'd be able to do an exchange because I'd be doing two years community college first. I'd be able to get plenty of international working experience but never experience living abroad as a student. Maybe I will ask the coordinators. Because I want to make myself a strong candidate for related jobs but I'm worried my lack of experience on that side of things would affect my chances. Although maybe my heavy involvement with students would be a strong factor.

HL: one of my presentations was postponed 'til next week. No Chinese class this week either.
LL: I honestly don't think I'm going to have time to sleep tonight. I've got another presentation in the morning and an exam and a portfolio to finish and file. /stressed laughter

HL: Well that's a presentation and an exam out of the way today... both went decently.
LL: I'm a bit sad because my teacher for Japanese has been suspended. An accusation of favouritism from someone in second year, apparently. I don't really know what to think... without knowing all the facts. There seems to be more going on than we know. A lot of people are very angry that this has happened, though... she's generally well-liked, and a good teacher. Although as someone put it, she is a Marmite person - you either like her very much or not at all. You'd think they could have waited a couple of weeks for this, this is just before the exams and our portfolio is due in next Friday. I was going to go to her for help and I'm sure others were too. There are other teachers of course but we don't know them or they us, and they have their own classes to deal with.
Well, I hope all works out for the best and no wrongdoing is found. I don't know all the facts as I say but she's been a good teacher this last year and seems a good person too.

Eh, you can suspend professors and for that reason?? I don't even know if that's a valid reason here.. But then again you said there seems to be more than just that going on.
HL: Bought myself a marimo (moss ball) today for my fish tank. Little on the expensive side but I've been wanting one for a long while and the flower shop down the street finally got a shipment in.

Flowers and I have a love-hate relationship: Love the way the look, hate the way they smell.
HL: Only two more days of testing at school for me.
LL: My best friend isn't acting like much of a best friend.

I literally bought a giant moss ball to put in my fish tank. lol That flower shop smells like sunshine and happiness. They don't so much sell flowers as they do other plants. The flowers for bouquets and whatnot are kept in the crisper area. It's a really cute shop.

Should have gone independent while we had the chance, then it would have been a HL. *sighs* Well, at least the SNP will be looking after us the best they can. Lord knows what the rest of the country's let itself in for though.

I haven't heard anything about the elections over there on our local news. Seems that we should have, really...
SNP? I know that when you tell me, I'll go, "Oh, yeah, right".. lol
EDIT:
OK, news just came on in MSN, Cameron wins. I'll read more about it later...
The SNP is the Scottish National Party. They took 56 out of 59 seats in Scotland, the remaining ones each going to a different party. I voted for them myself. I'd be very happy if it were just them that had power over us, but unfortunately... we're still shackled to the UK government, which is now a Conservative majority government that clearly none of us want.

When I say 'us', I refer to the people of Scotland. It's very obvious that we don't want anything to do with a majority Conservative government. We want the SNP. The rest of the UK is another story.

I don't think we've had shillings since the '70s. It's just pounds and pence now.
If I remember rightly, I think you can legally use euros to pay for things, but... I think most places wouldn't want to accept that.
HL: a peaceful day. u.u I should make a little start on an essay today, but aside from that, I'm taking a break. What a stressful week. Tomorrow a friend is having a party, so there's that... I'm looking forward to that, I haven't really gone out with everyone since before Christmas.
