I haven't seen any thread about Origin, but mods please delete this if there's already something about Origin posted!
Well, besides Studio Ghibli's works I don't watch a lot of anime, though I saw the movie Origin made by studio Gonzo and it's amazing. It's very beautifully drawed and it's a complicated but exhiting storyline. I also like Toola, she is so mysterious but so sweet! And there is a lot of beautiful tree spirits, nature, evil characters and buildings and action in it too. Love it love it love it!
Does anyone agree with me?

Ive seen this, and I agree that the animation was stunning, but the story was kinda splah. The pacing just felt wrong. I do have to watch it again to refresh my memory but I recall that I was not impressed with the pacing which hurt the film in my opinion.

I thought it was excellently done. A good and a bit complex story. The artwork is great, I thought the pace was pretty good. One part in the middle seemed to be missing something, but other than that, I'd give it a 9 out of ten.

I agree it is a bit of a complex story, maybe too many things they want to put in just one movie. But it's nice to watch though. There are some funny jokes in it AND a beautiful soundtrack!
About the pacing; I know, it's kinda like a SF movie...but still, I also give it a 9 out of 10

Since you liked the Origins oav, you might like to try, A Tree of Palme. It's loosely based on the story of Pinocchio. The artwork is excellent, and the story complex and interesting.
Plot Summary: Palme is a puppet created by a man to care for his sickly wife. After her death Palme becomes paralyzed with sorrow, that is, until a woman being pursed happens to cross paths with Palme and his creator and ask them to deliver something precious to a sacred place called Tama. Palme, mistaking her for his masters late wife, accepts the request. This becomes his first step to becoming more human in order to understand his own feelings.
Interestingly, this is all cell animation, no cg, very beautiful artwork.

I will try to find it on DVD, because the story already sounds fascinating to me now! Thanks Oldwrench!

Ahh I really enjoyed Origins, and I couldn't fault the animation - truly beautiful. Perhaps the pacing could do with a little help but I found it an entirely enjoyable experience watching it so

Actually it is Origin, without the s!
By the way, I watched 'A Tree of Palme', a bit of a weird story, especially the beginning started too slow in my opinion and I had to get used of the artwork, since it's very different from Ghibli or Gonzo...
But, the story was very nice and interesting, they made a great character out of Palme and I dreamed away so many times because of all the relaxing parts in the movie, with those beautiful flowers they drawed and then that music...the theme song is so captivating, but also so sad...
Lovely movie Thanks for telling me about it. It's quite a shame I only know a few anime movies..since there are so many great ones that deserves some attention!

The full title is
Origin ~Spirits of the Past
check it out here. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclop...ime.php?id=5488
There are quite a few good movies out there, if you would like something very humorous, and very touching at the same time, watch Tokyo Godfathers. It isn't what the title sounds like. It's three homeless people who find a baby in the trash at Christmas. Their adventures trying to locate the babies mother are very funny, and their personal stories are extreemly touching.
