Yeah ~ sorry about this. Didn't realise editing would drag it from the depths... :l Been bored studying all day and rediscovered this forum from when I was 14!

Reading some of my old posts I felt pretty embarrassed about my 14 year old self so deleted a few... like you just said

Really sorry for the resurrection of this!

This year is the year of the golden pig, and it's very special. In addition to each year being named after the cycle of 12 animals, each year is named after one of the five elements (metal, fire, water, wood and earth). A golden pig year happens when the year of the pig occurs at the same time as the year of fire. This only happens every 60 years, and is very special for a child born this year... does that make sense? I hope so!

Kung Hey Fat Choy! (I think that's Happy New Year!?)

I went to Trafalgar Square for the New Year celebrations. I bought loads of souvenirs, including a goat charm, because I was born in the year of the goat.

Your daughter will be born this year, Dom? Congratulations I read that this year is meant to be a special year of the pig, too.

I really wish I could have a seen the celebrations in Asia, Totorogirl. The dances and performances in Trafalgar square were stunning, but I'm sure they must be better in Asia. Maybe I'll go and see them next year...

Phyrra, what kind of school are you in now? High School(or equivalent) or University?

Sounds like high school... Yeah, high school. And he's planning for university.

At my school, my year is called 'Upper Fifth'... it's the year before sixth form. I'm 15, so I'm in whatever your system calls the 15-16 age group. Does that help??

Howmany, I thought that the International Baccalaureate is an international exam, not just French!? People from all over the world take the exam, many of them having to write in English as a second language. My school only offers the IB, and doesn't teach the A level at all... our school has an average of 39.8 points out of 45 for the IB, which is a fantastic average. That doesn't mean I'm not going to have to work like crazy in the sixth form though!!

Yep, arren18, I'm planning for university and am probably in a high school equivalent. I think? It's a tad confusing, all these school systems...

EDIT: I'm sorry, Toolfan... I just read your post. Best wishes for your father's opperation. I really hope that you don't have sudden death sydrome too.

Perhaps... although whe admission tutors at Oxbridge get hundreds of applications on their desk and have to choose a tiny number of the best, having completely A*s in addition to good A level/ IB results has to be better than a bunch of As and Bs. So many people want these university places that GCSEs haven't been more relevant? With hundreds of applications for a couple of places, the number of top GCSEs is most definately an indicator of where the places should go.

I took entrance exams to get into my school, Seiji. During the sixth form I'll take the "IB diploma" exam and hopefully get to study at Oxbridge! *crosses fingers*

It's a bit like the American SAT test, but there's a GCSE exam for every subject you can imagine. Some people in my year want to go to American universities and are preparing for their SAT. I took 2 GCSE exams last year, and will be taking another 9 GCSEs this year. Each GCSE is a seperate exam on a seperate subject.

GCSEs are the exams we take over here in England, Wales and Northern Ireland when we're 15-16. They're very important, seeing as when we apply to universities and an entrance tutor has hundreds of entrance forms on their desks, the number of A* to C grades (A* being the highest grade, right down to a G at the lowest) can really make the difference between a place and no place. I'm aiming for completely A*s

I'm really sorry to hear that Totorogirl; I hope that you can relax here and take your mind off things for a while

Boo!!

I'm still here, but not posting much... I'm spending every moment revising for my GCSE mocks, which start next week!! I go extremely crazy revising; starting revision a long, long time in advance.

After they've finished I primise that I'll start posting again... after all, I've been knocked off my perch as "most posted member" and need to win back my title...

It all depends what you mean by 'accepted'... I believe that shops recognise animé as a genre of film, but sometimes 'true' Asian animé is mixed with cartoon animation. I've seen Japanese animés for sale on the same shelf as English animated nusery rhymes!

There's a huge, dedicated fanbase for animé, so websites such as ebay are filled with "animé-esque" merchandise. As far as I know, the market for animé and manga is growing. In the past year all my local bookshops have developed dedicated manga sections, for example.

One last thing for me to say ~ welcome to these forums, Mendeara!!

Happy New Year for tomorrow... or today, depending on where you live

According to the Bible code (the alleged code of hidden secrets in the Bible) the world should have ended in the Year 2006... there's just over three hours left of 2006... will it end before 2007?

...I hope not...

You celebrate Christmas on the 24th!!

Wow, I'm still waiting for tomorrow... Hopefully I'll get some cool presents, but it's highly unlikely that I'll get a frog!

Please tell us when your frog gets a name; I hope that you have fun with your laptop. I'll post my prezzies here soon

Merry Christmas!!

I love Christmas!! I am a Christian, but I don't go to Church on Christmas Day. My family is going to my grandparent's house, and we'll spend the day there. One of my favourite bits of the Chritsmas season is the shopping The decorations in the shops, and the bands playing outside... and, to be honest, I like the whole rush to get good deals, and the crowds with mad screaming children

Perhaps I'm just odd...

Welcome to the forums, yoyo

I love small, cute animals like raccoons and marmosets. I'm terrified of spiders and insects... *screams*

Good luck with your dreams too, how was your French nanafan? Hey, FFF, you shouldn't worry about other people calling you a 'nerd' for being great at sciences and the arts. When you're earning a fortune as the CEO of a huge company and the rest of them are working for you, you can lie back and laugh
