The entire studio is receiving an honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival this week! They'll also be showing Ghibli films, including four of the shorts that are normally only ever screened at the Ghibli Museum and Ghibli Park: https://www.festival-cannes.com/en/press...-goro-miyazaki/

Not really. I've written lyrics before, but it was only fairly recently I decided to make up for my old regret and actually start learning an instrument, so the only music I've written is a tiny one-hand keyboard melody (which I do at least still remember! )

Edinburgh! (but on holiday in Italy right now!)
I forget, are you still where you used to be, fen?

Oh, I don't think so. I know peanut butter can work in a few different contexts, but for a sandwich I'm not keen on that idea. :/

I feel like my opinion is pretty similar to yours, Alma. I expect there is more to come, but it won't be quite the same, since it'll almost certainly need to be made by different people. And I think it makes sense that there might be a larger committee running the show in the future.

Afraid not! All I have is a couple of the "Art of..." books.

The Boy and the Heron will be released on Blu-ray, DVD etc in early July! It's coming out first in Japan, then the US (and Canada?) a few days later. No news on other regions yet though.

They announced this morning that it's coming back again, this time at a different theatre. Still in London, but I do wonder if the fact it's going on for multiple seasons is a sign that it might show in other countries at some point.

Been having some trouble with my external hard drive (that I save all my stuff onto instead of taking up space on my laptop's more limited internal hard drive) and took it to a place yesterday, to find out the issue was MUCH worse than I thought. Much more expensive to fix too. I'd even been thinking about getting a better one and relegating the old one to be the backup, so I guess this is a lesson not to drag my feet on that kind of thing in future!

Oh hey, I'm also planning to go to Japan this year and hopefully go to the park!
I think it depends on you a little bit, and also what kind of videos you're thinking about. I've learnt quite a lot about the park and what they have, and it helps me know what I most want to see, but I haven't watched things like videos taken by people visiting the park. I don't think it's a bad idea to know what to expect (it's different from wanting to avoid spoiling a story!) but I can imagine some videos would give away too much of the fun details.

I was going to say just the same thing! It's good to hear from you, but sad to hear your job wasn't so great. I hope you move onto something better!

Oh yeah, there's at least one song from Kiki's Delivery Service in it! It's in the scene where the guy plays "oldies" on the car radio.
I watched American Fiction on a flight the other day. It was very good!

False. Okra isn't very common here, and I'm personally not a great fan of it, but I do know it.
The next person has visited five or more different countries.

False! Not sure I've ever seen one in person for that matter.
The next person prefers long, elaborate stories over concise, self-contained ones.

Went to see Dune Part 2 the other day. I'd say I enjoyed it even more than the first one, because a lot of that interesting setup came to a head this time. At the same time, it's very clear that it needs one last film to wrap up this story.

I saw one more Japanese film last night, called Undercurrent. I liked it, often a lot, some parts a bit less, but I think I appreciate what the filmmaker was trying to do. It was definitely directed and shot very nicely.

Hiii! Nice to see so many old members dropping lately. It's a shame the software is so decrepit... It really doesn't make things any easier.

Wow, that's wild! It makes me realise that I've been a Tavern member for most of my life, which is even weirder to think.
