  Quotes of the Day

Just thought it would be nice, for people to share random quotes, they can mean something to you, if so share the story or they can be random quotes that you just like.

I will go first

"When you’re a kid, they tell you it’s all… grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that’s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It’s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better. "

That was from an episode of season 2 of Doctor Who, I was just watching it and thought it's a pretty good quote.

"A man sees in the world, what he carries in his heart"

This is a really good one

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” -- Bernard M Baruch

Kind of a comforting one.

Loved it, Kaz, and very true...

I learned this one, attributed to a number of people over the years, that I learned from an IGY (International Geophysical Year) magazine back when I was twelve...

"Big fleas have little fleas,
Upon there backs to bite'm,
And little fleas have lesser fleas,
And so ad infinitum."

That always meant to me that no matter how big or little you may be, we all got our fleas...

This is a two-fer, because it was so hard to decide between the two, also learned when I was 12 or so. It came from a little souvenir thermometer mounted on a small oval slice of pine tree that we picked up on one of our camping trips when I was a kid.

"As a rule, a man's a fool,
When it is hot, he wants it cool.
When it is cool, he wants it hot,
Whatever it is, man wants it not!"

Anon

To me, this is one of the greatest truisms of all time...

"I asked her if she believed in love, and she smiled and said it was her most elaborate method of self-harm" Benedict Smith

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.” - Heraclitus

"Time waits for no one"- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

"So take it slow and let time heal everything.
They say that time flies
but you keep breakin' its wings.
" -TABLO, 'Eyes, Nose, Lips'

"They say that time
Heals a broken heart
But time has stood still
Since we've been apart
" - Ray Charles, 'I Can't Stop Loving You'

All about time but these quotes have resonated with me for awhile now.

It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so loving what - Stephen Fry.

“No truth can cure the sorrow we feel from losing a loved one. No truth, no sincerity, no strength, no kindness can cure that sorrow. All we can do is see it through to the end and learn something from it, but what we learn will be no help in facing the next sorrow that comes to us without warning.”
― Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood

This quote always makes me feel better about my journey with grief, I lost my dad at a really young age and I thought it would prepare me to lose other people who's role in my life would be less important, but grief is grief!
