Posted by FlareNetworkC on 07.23.2014, 08:02 AM: I think we should do same universe, new characters, because if we bring back old characters, then the newbie users might not get old jokes or may feel left out.

Posted by arren18 on 07.23.2014, 09:15 AM: Good idea Saddles.

Posted by husky51 on 07.23.2014, 09:25 AM: I was never able to get too active in the old RPG that we had. I was able to join in on a few very small contributions, but I just don't seem to have the skills needed to continue the flow and continuity needed. When this gets started again, maybe I can add a little something, but I will have to leave the setting up to you more talented people...

Posted by Saddletank on 07.23.2014, 10:21 AM: Honestly, Husky, as one of the most awesome and active members here, not having you in a new RPG would be a big disappointment. You and I are a bit older than most here but I think we are both young at heart and RPing does sharpen your wits and your writing skills, so please think hard about joining us.

Posted by arren18 on 07.23.2014, 10:44 AM: The first of those options sounds good to me, as it's the closest to my suggestion of rebooting the old story. On the other hand, using an existing setting from another work would be a problem because of people having varied levels of knowledge about it.

Posted by arren18 on 07.23.2014, 01:05 PM: Oh yeah, I wasn't counting that out by any means! I was actually imagining it going a little like the other game, where some element of the supernatural or whatever gets introduced to an otherwise fairly ordinary environment.

Posted by saviour2012 on 07.23.2014, 03:08 PM: is japan setting important here?
|
Posted by Kazegami on 07.23.2014, 04:34 PM: Mm, it is really. To me anyway. I imagine the RPG as being like an anime; we use anime characters to represent our characters, I remember we used to intersperse bits of Japanese into the conversations where we could. I suppose it needn't necessarily be that way, but it's just part of it for me.

Posted by husky51 on 07.23.2014, 05:27 PM: I think that the Japanese setting would be best in that we have all seen them in the anime we have all watched. We can relate to that as a common thing for all members, so it wouldn't be too strange. As for keeping the old RPG and building on that, I don't know... Many of the 'cast' have gone on to other things and are not around any more.
|
Posted by FlareNetworkC on 07.23.2014, 05:53 PM: So, what we have so far is a entirely new characters based in a Japanese town with a supernatural twist to it. I think the next thing we should figure out is what is that twist!
|
Posted by husky51 on 07.23.2014, 09:40 PM: The twist might not be known at the start... Sort of a surprise as we move along maybe???
|
Posted by arren18 on 07.24.2014, 02:22 AM: Last time the twist was introduced after we began the game. This meant that at first players didn't know how to deal with it and some mistakes were made, but since it wasn't set in stone, everything worked itself out.

Posted by Saddletank on 07.24.2014, 06:53 AM: I quite like it when someone says "Hai!" or "Arigato!" because I so easily imagine how it sounds (from anime of course) so for me its not a problem.
|
Posted by Kazegami on 07.24.2014, 07:35 AM: Heh, it's a touch weeaboo-ish I know, but I quite like it. No one needs to do it so it's all good. ^-^

Posted by FlareNetworkC on 07.24.2014, 08:24 AM: I'm cool with the Spirited Away setting. I enjoyed the movie very much, and the idea of the spirits is a good one, since we can all find at least one spirit that we know. I went back and read over the first 27 pages of Isakaya High....
|
Posted by Saddletank on 07.24.2014, 10:29 AM: The Isakaya RP got better as it went along. There were rivalry scenes between my guy and Roar's, there was a budding gay romance, a budding lesbian romance, the shadows became more and more spooky and it wasn't certain if they were benign or mischievous, there was a dark past history of the land on which the school was built which was originally a shrine and then a place where travellers rested in the care of monks, a freaky painting done in 1945, an art lady teacher who was doing her own investigations and of course the resident looney Natsuba who had a penchant for talking to the rain and reading people's minds.
