What book are you reading right now?

I am currently reading volume 4 of My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute (Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai)," the light novel which will get an anime adaptation later this year. My next leisure reading is probably Eiga Douraku by Toshio Suzuki (<- Tavern members should be able to recognize this guy straight away ) .

But then I should be reading International Investment Law right now instead. Exams are coming next week. :x

I'm going to be starting on The City of Ember Because my brother gave it to me and said that I had to read and that I would love it afterwards.

Seven Houses by Alev Lyttle Croutier.

It's SUCH a good book. It's written beautifully and it has a bit of a tall-tale feel to it - but not like Paul Bunyan tall tale, like... really really beautiful tall tale. if that makes any sense?

Books!

Margherita Dolce Vita by Stefano Benni, which is a satire about commercialism and the like. It's very silly most times, and then near the end it everything blows up. xD No idea how it's going to end.

The Age of Wonder: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes. This is interesting, really well written. My thoughts on the actual content? On hold at the moment.
The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. So good!

Also, very, very slowly: the Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill. Even though it always takes me really long to get through, I love historical fiction.

Hm, even more slowly, I'm reading The Desire of Every Living Thing by Don Gillmor...a memoir. It's good but I want something like Angelas Ashes. God, I love that book.

I want some scifi...haven't had any of that in a while.

just finished "Hyperion Cantos" a rather strange, rather lo-o-o-ng book (over 900 pages), but got pretty interesting towards the end... something like Michener's "the Source" in that it was a number of different things coming together as one... Kinda sorta... and almost as long...

now I can start working thru all the manga I got recently.... groan, lol

Reading 'Vorst' (winter) by Roy Jacobsen, a historical novel during the viking ages. It's about a manipulating boy who avenges the murder on this father by murdering the most important guy in the village.
He has to run away wherever he goes when the people starting to know him a little better.

It's written in proza, won the literal price of Norway and it is a beautiful novel.

I usually read several at a time. But right now I am concentrating on The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon for my book club.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin. It's about an Envoy sent by an interplanetary group to an icy planet inhabited by humans who are, about five sixths of the time, genderless. Stuff also happens.

Twilight
okay i said it

I'm actually enjoying it more than I expected, its not great but its not horrible either.
I find kind of funny after you get past the vampires and stuff.
The way they're all portrayed in the movie is wrong i think.
and i'm going to stop there before this spirals into rambles of stupidity

I started reading Lolita today. Am finding it... well, a bit weird. Kind of uncomfortable really. Though I guess that's to be expected.

I'm also reading the Earthsea quartet right now, still on the first book. I'm enjoying it.

I'd say the second and third Earthsea books are the best, so if you like the first one, that's a good start. And as of a few years ago, it's not a quartet anymore.

Just now, I'm reading The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'm halfway through it and still not sure what I think. The narrator tends to go and on about stuff, and I feel that there's something more still to come, but for now, nothing seems to be happening.

I am reading The Naming by Allison Croggon and I'm still working on Narcissus and Goldmund by Herman Hesse.

You could even call it the sixth, if you count Tales from Earthsea, which does include a story that bridges the gap between Tehanu and The Other Wind.

I finished Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief awhile back. It was very good, I never thought I would read the series, but I liked it.

I'm also reading The City of Ember, Finally. I wish I had the rest of the series already, (I just have the one) because this book is short.

I'm thinking LIBRARY
