LL: fretting about finances for next year. Was just on the phone to the agency and they say I'm not entitled to tuition fee funding for next year; in fact, one of my years at university shouldn't have been paid for in the first place. Well, that's their mistake. They're looking into it and going to get back to me. I can still get a loan for living costs, but tuition... I wonder what I can do. I've known this was coming for a while, but it's been one of those 'cross that bridge when you come to it' things. I guess I was hoping for a "well, you've come this far and you're doing well so we'll let you have one more year". Hm.

HL: only Tuesday, but I'm done with classes since it's Golden Week here in Japan now.

Whenever Golden week is mentioned now I'm reminded of Monogatari.

Kaz - I had a similar thing happen to me, but it kinda came out of nowhere. Since you do know about it ahead of time, you can try applying for some grants and things to help cover the tuition costs.

Not sure how it works in the UK, but you could try and get a bank loan/line of credit. Most of my education and living expenses were paid for with bank loans because my parents didn't think I qualified for enough in student loans. They've been much less stressful compared to dealing with student loans although they have a few problems (like that I'll have to keep paying them when I go back to school.. I need to talk to them about that). I'm planning to consolidate my loans for a lower interest rate and payment.

But yeah, really not sure how the system works so this might not be possible for you.

@Kaz...

Hoping for the best for you...

For now, enjoy your Golden Week...

HL:
Went historical exploring in a small part of the desert today with two friends and all we could get was today photos of the site of an old railroad station... Still an unmanned drop-off and pick-up point along the Amtrak line...

Also the site of a geologic "Angel" on the side of a mountain that the others had not see as well as a grologic Indian Chieftains head along a skyline. One of the guys with me has been a lifelong resident (79 yrs) and knew about these sites, but had never seen them... He was happy to have been finally able to do so...

Rats, had a nice long, humorous post telling about my lo-o-o-n-g HL day yesterday and when I was done, hit the wrong key and bye-bye went the post... sigh

But I had a good day yesterday, but I'm paying for it today in leg pain, but it was fun, anyway... sigh

Oh, yeah... HL:

Congratulations, Flare! Nice going. ^.^

HL: had a nice time getting lunch and then going clothes' shopping with a friend. Found some very nice and cheap things in the second-hand stores. We're going to a gay club tomorrow. My first time. o.o Ever so slightly apprehensive, but it should be fun.

Oh, I had exams this week and all went pretty well, I think. It's a relief to have them over with.

Honestly, what's better than spending time with your family, Husky? That's right, the answer is nothing.

HL: Had my first day at work today, and it was a lot of fun! It really didn't feel like work, and I made $40. Here's to another fun day tomorrow!

Aw, that sounds like a lovely day, Husky. ^_^

Glad you like the new job, Flare!

HL: had a pretty fun time at the club, and barely have a hangover. It was an interesting mix of comfortable and intimidating, you definitely feel very free to be yourself but suddenly being surrounded by so many other gay people was slightly overwhelming as well (especially to a wallflower like me, ha). I think I'll go again.

hahaha, reminds of when I was living at home just after I got out of the Navy, I was looking for a local bar to go to for a beer or two and some pool. I found one and had been there about three times and it was a quiet place without the usual rowdiness that I usually found. I got along well with the regulars and had no problems.

hahaha, then I realized that it was a gay bar! lol I went a couple of times more and eventually found another place where I had a better chance of meeting a gal of the same persuasion as I. When I found out, we had a laugh about it...

FINALS UPDATE

Well, I took three of my seven final exams today, and I think they went very well. I have my two easiest exams tomorrow, and then my two hardest ones on Thursday, so here's to hoping I can keep my 4.0. Wish me luck!

looking forward to the best for you, Flare... My 2 yrs of college ended up with me having to ask why my diploma had gold embossing on it instead of everybody else's having black... Heck, I didn't know...

One of my mates told me... you dummy, it means you graduated with honors....

I amswered with a very subdued,...oh...

I had a better than 3.5 GPA, didn't mean anything to me as I didn't know what other GPA's were

Not bad for a dropout, eh?...
