Posted by husky51 on 12.14.2016, 02:25 AM: Watched the new version of "Pete's Dragon"... An ok movie... I liked the ending....

Posted by husky51 on 12.24.2016, 04:57 AM: Watched the "Minions" tonight...
|
Posted by husky51 on 12.29.2016, 11:09 PM: Watched "Pan"... basically, a prequel to "Peter Pan" story... |
Posted by Saddletank on 01.01.2017, 12:05 PM: Watched the Hobbit trilogy between Xmas and New Year. I had forgotten how epic these films are, great entertainment. I know purists pick holes in the added scenes Peter Jackson brought in but they still work to a fair degree and I'm not such a massive fan of the original book that I have issues over the foreshadowing scenes and all the Legolas content. You can't really have too much of Orlando Bloom slaughtering orcs in inventive ways IMO.

Posted by husky51 on 02.02.2017, 06:43 AM: Of all things, I watched "Beetlejuice" today... lol Corny IMO, but I enjoyed it... |
Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.04.2017, 12:16 PM: I've been watching all the scenes from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Posted by husky51 on 02.04.2017, 02:49 PM: You're OLD!!! Oh no! How did that happen???
|
Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.04.2017, 07:37 PM: Hahaha It's just a lot darker than I remember. The film used to make me uncomfortable when I was a child, and I kind of think I must have picked up on what Frollo was all about. |
Posted by Saddletank on 02.11.2017, 08:18 PM: I just watched the 2016 Sci-Fi film "Arrival" and very much enjoyed it. The whole thing was not at all what I expected and like other SF films of recent years such as Interstellar, the SF was 'soft' and contained the true story within it.

Posted by arren18 on 02.12.2017, 08:36 AM: I heard good things about it! I have the short story collection with the story it was adapted from, but I was told it would be better to wait with that because it might make the film less enjoyable. Unfortunately, like most English-language films it isn't coming out in Japan for a while...

Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 02.23.2017, 01:01 AM: I'm going to sit down and watch If Cats Disappeared From the World sometime this weekend but I 100% guarantee I will probably just be sobbing the whole film.
|
Posted by husky51 on 03.16.2017, 01:24 PM: Re-watched "Avatar" again, quite enjoyable and sad at the same time, if you know what I mean... Kinda glad the one dude got wasted away (won't say who for those who haven't seen it yet) |
Posted by FlareNetworkC on 04.02.2017, 01:48 PM: I'm working on seeing every film on AFI's Top 100, so last night I watched The Silence of the Lambs.
|
Posted by husky51 on 04.02.2017, 02:32 PM: hahaha, never had the urge to see it, but from what I've heard and read, I wonder why you couldn't sleep... lol |
Posted by FlareNetworkC on 04.08.2017, 09:14 AM: Continuing on my AFI Top 100 journey, last night I watched All About Eve. It was excellent, as I expected, but I swear everyone in that movie was made of acid. The entire movie was basically a bunch of people insulting each other or insulting each other stealthily. Still, it was definitely very good.

Posted by husky51 on 04.09.2017, 10:38 PM: I'm currently watching "How to Tame Your Dragon" again on TV... I like this movie. I'm at the part where the Vikings are about to make a BIG BIG mistake... lol |
Posted by Saddletank on 04.10.2017, 09:39 AM: Watched "Battle of Los Angeles" last night just because I wanted something with mindless action in it. I got that in spades. Other than mindless action I would recommend avoiding this film as though it had been smeared in poop. Its really derisible in all departments.

Posted by foreignfilmfreak on 04.12.2017, 11:04 PM: I watched Farewell My Concubine ... and oh my god...
|
Posted by husky51 on 04.12.2017, 11:17 PM: Haven't seen them yet, but looking forward to Ghost in the Shell and Smurf: The Lost Village... |
