Posted by arren18 on 07.26.2011, 06:03 PM: I saw Harry Potter too! I really enjoyed it.

Posted by Nausicaa_Cat on 07.28.2011, 07:41 AM: I saw Harry Potter two nights ago and I thought it was good but....underwhelming. I don't think a big enough deal was made of the deaths of some pretty major characters and though Snape's story was dealt with well it could have been better. Saying that the scene with the Patronus where Dumbledore asks him "After all this time?" (or something along those lines) and he replies "Always" kept playing in my dreams last night and made me wake up crying ahaha.

Posted by arren18 on 07.30.2011, 03:23 PM: I forgot to mention that when I saw The Orphanage and Julia's Eyes, there was a trailer for Arrietty. It was for the dubbed version though, and it had a cheesy voiceover unfortunately. But on that note, that cinema will be showing Arrietty in the coming weeks, so I'll probably go and see it.

Posted by Kemi on 07.30.2011, 03:57 PM: My cinema is also showing it!!! I only need someone to join me

Posted by Nausicaa_Cat on 08.02.2011, 07:04 PM: I've seen both The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and 5 Centimetres Per Second over the past few days. TGWLTT was cute and I thought the time travel aspect was used well and in more novel ways than it usually is in movies. However, in comparison to 5cps it doesn't really hold the same weight. That movie was so, so beautiful - perhaps even more beautiful than Ghibli movies, though I feel slightly blasphemous saying so - and I was really touched by the ending. I don't really like being saddened by films so it isn't a film I enjoyed as much as I might perhaps otherwise but it really is fantastic. |
Posted by husky51 on 08.02.2011, 07:37 PM: I agree with you about movies leaving me sad, NC, but if it was a good, emotionally satisfying movie (if that makes any sense) then that negates the feeling of sadness somewhat. I liked both of these movies and rewatch them periodically, as I do my Ghiblis. |
Posted by Tea Master Tall on 08.03.2011, 11:53 AM: Saw Captain America today. Actually, a bit better than I expected it to be. |
Posted by Nausicaa_Cat on 08.06.2011, 05:53 AM: I saw Summer Wars! I don't have time to properly write about it now but it was sooooo good The climax scenes where the end standoff was occuring were so tense and I found myself getting really into it ahahha. I'm considering watching it again tonight even! |
Posted by Flatwheels on 08.06.2011, 06:56 PM: I gave fellow dutchman Rutger Hauer and Anthony Hopkins a chance in The Rite. It was..watchable |

Posted by arren18 on 08.10.2011, 02:04 PM: Arrietty! I thought it was good, and the art was as usual great, but overall I don't see it becoming one of my favourites, though I dfeinitely enjoyed it.
