There has been confirmation that the UK release date is 26 December!

I hoped it would be a bit earlier than that honestly, considering when it's coming out elsewhere. :/ It looks unlikely that I'll have a chance to see it before January.

Some more posters got revealed yesterday for the French and North American releases. I won't post them just in case people would rather not see (they do show a different screenshot from previous posters) but they are out there if you want to check them out.

I'm gonna see this on 15 December! One of my local cinemas has a one-off preview screening so I won't have to wait until after Christmas and New Year after all.

Coming back into the no-spoilers thread to note that the film is now available through on-demand video services in North America! https://gkids.com/films/the-boy-and-the-heron/home-video/ It's also coming to DVD, Blu-ray, etc in the same region in a couple of weeks - not sure about other regions though.

My rotten Son-in-Law in Saudi Arabia, sent me a screenshot (?) last night of what he was viewing, saying "see what I am watching"...

I sent him a code word that ,between us, expressed what I thought of him at that moment... Told him that it was... 'elder abuse' on his part.. etc!!!

I will eventually get to see it... the rotten &*^$(%$, lol

BTW, His wife (my daughter) is visiting here with me and her brothers...

There have been a couple of updates on releases, I think while the forum was down:

The documentary Miyazaki and the Heron is now on HBO Max, which has all the Ghibli films for streaming in the US.

The Boy and the Heron comes out on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK later this month.

In countries where Netflix has Ghibli films, The Boy and the Heron comes out next month (except France, where it's delayed for whatever reason). No word yet on whether Miyazaki and the Heron will follow.
