It depends on the types of movies that suit your interest. Spirited Away, Kaguya, and of course Totoro are more family oriented films. Along those lines, I'd recommend Ponyo, The Secret World of Arrietty, and maybe Castle of Caligostro.

Whisper of the Heart. Porco Rosso. Princess Mononoke. Howl's Moving Castle. Kiki's Delivery Service. The Wind Rises.
Those, in my opinion, are the best. All of them are worth seeing, though. Just work your way through the collection.

Whisper of the Heart is good too, as a family oriented film. If you're willing to get into the more action-oriented films with violence, definitely go for Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa. Even Porco Rosso has alot of action in its aerial dog-fighting scenes.
