Miyazaki isn't big on sequels, though we might have a Porco Rosso 2 in a few years time, so I doubt he'll be making one. Also, I personally don't think the film needs a sequel. Their renunion speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Yeah, even apart from the fact that Ghibli don't normally release sequels, I think it would be really unlikely for Ocean Waves, which had a very limited release itself.

(Still haven't seen the original) Ghibli is the rare studio that refuses to make a sequel unless they can really do something good with the story. Miyazaki seems to have plans for a Porco sequel, and he's already got a good plot laid out from what I've heard. If they think of something great with Ocean Waves, it could happen, but judging by its obscurity, I'm not sure how successful a sequel could be.
